Basic Surf Life Support™ Course
Knowledge is good, but when it comes to rescuing a friend, a fellow surfer, a family member, or even a complete stranger, experience and practical training is where it’s at.
The Basic Surf Life Support™ (BSLS™) full-day course features a wide array of topics, such as: Surf First Aid, basic water rescue techniques; theory concerning waves, tides, and rips, outdoor scene safety and patient assessment, marine stings envenomation, and musculoskeletal injuries, to name but a few aspects.
Developed by the world’s leading network of surf enthusiastic health-professionals, Surfing Medicine International, it is the original and leading course in surfing medicine specifically designed for medically non-trained surfers, watermen and women.
Participants will receive online interactive preparation prior to the 8 hour full-day course, where they will experience theoretical and practical training as-well as land and water based scenarios by international team of experienced, well trained and certified surf enthusiastic health professionals.

Aim of the BSLS™ course
The Basic Surf Life Support™ (BSLS™) course has been custom-made to prepare and train medically non-trained surfers, watermen and women in Surf First Aid, to learn and master basic aquatic life saving rescue techniques, and wilderness first aid at remote surf locations.
Who can take a BSLS™ course?
The BSLS™ course and certification is appropriate for ANY surfer, waterman or waterwoman, stoked about the liquid medium and interested in keeping themselves, friends, fellow surfers, or family members healthy and safe.
Knowledge to bring
ANYONE can come to the BSLS™ course. To make the course as effective, efficient, and beneficial as possible, we need participants work through the interactive online preparation, which can be done in about 2-4 hours, depending your reading speed and pre-knowledge.
Fitness to bring
The surf rescue training will be incredibly fun but also physically demanding. So you need to be in shape before the start of the course. The fitter you are, the more fun you will have while learning the rescue skills and saving people in the scenarios.
Every participant attending and completing the course as-well as passing the written and practical exams will get an internationally accepted BSLS™ course certificate.
