How to get to Newquay?
Newquay is located on the North Coast of Cornwall in the UK. It is a great small town with an excellent surfing culture to match. The closest airport is Cornwall Airport Newquay . This airport is lucky enough receive flights from a variety of locations across Europe so that you can fly almost directly to the conference.
From Cornwall Airport, the 4 best options to get to Newquay town centre itself are:
- Car rental – there are many ways to rent cars through various websites. The 2 main suppliers at Newquay airport are Europcar and Hertz (see here: Newquay Car Hire).
- Bus – For up to date timetables and further information, please visit First Kernow website. The bus stop is between the terminal and the west car park.
- Taxi – ‘Coastline Travel Cornwall’ is Cornwall Airport Newquay’s official taxi provider, but there are other companies available. There is no full time taxi terminal at the airport, so you will need to pre book your taxi. Coastline Travel Cornwall have a manned desk in arrivals at all times in order to book in person, but pre-booking during busy times is recommended.
For more information please see Cornwall Airport Public Transport
The next closest airports in order are then Bristol, London Heathrow and London Gatwick. London Gatwick also provides internal flights directly to Newquay airport, and may be a good option for those individuals arriving from different continents, or for those living in Europe unable to fly into Newquay itself directly.
Newquay has its own station within the town center accessible via connections country wide. Check out timetables and tickets at the National Rail website.
If arriving by car, you need to travel down the M5 motorway towards the SOUTH WEST. Eventually this continues onto the A30. After a while you will see signs for Newquay along the A392. From here follow signs for Newquay town centre and follow the signs for Fistral Beach. The Headland Hotel is just prior to the main car park at Fistral Beach on the right hand side.
Several ferry options are available for those arriving from Europe. Check out Brittanny Ferries website for all available routes and prices.
We can’t wait to see you in September for the World Conference on Surfing Medicine!
