Loes has been working in various addiction treatment facilities in the Netherlands and for years also as a “street doctor” for the city of Amsterdam. She’s a registered Addiction Medicine specialist, with special focus on opioïd dependency and hallucinogen persisting perception disorder (HPPD), currently working at Jellinek, Amsterdam.
She is affiliated with the Radboud University Nijmegen as educator for addiction medicine specialists in training and with VU Medical Centre Amsterdam for educating general practitioners in training on addiction medicine. Besides this she gives various lectures and trainings on addiction medicine to health care professionals and students, as well as laymen.
She has been on the SMI conference team from 2012 to 2015 and investigated the proneness to substance use disorders amongst Dutch surfers.
Preferring cold water and weather over warm, her favorite place to surf is the south part of Finisterre in Brittany. Besides surfing she also loves to paddle on flat water.
