The first edition of the Advanced Surfing Medicine Life Support™ course (ASLS™) organized by the EASD was a big success! All 20 attendees passed the test of the course that was held in the beautiful museum-like Vila Ana Margarida in Ericeira, Portugal in April 2013.

Topics such as hyper- and hypothermia, submersion, infectious disease, but also altitude disease and avalanche survival were covered, next to training of life guard saving skills. The focus of the course was the practical part of performing Surfing Medicine and therefore theoretical lectures were followed by a great number of hands-on scenarios.
